Joyce Ann "Josie" Kline of Payson, Arizona, passed away on Friday, April 28, in Phoenix, Arizona, from complications of pneumonia and congestive heart failure.

Josie was born on Nov. 29, 1940, in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, to Michael and Grace Ondrako.

She graduated from Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania, with a degree in medical technology.

She began working at the Lake Placid Memorial Hospital in 1961, and then in 1967, she went to work for the Lake Placid Convention and Visitors Bureau.

After moving to New Jersey in 1981 with her husband Alan Kline (her first marriage to Raymond Wilson ended in divorce), she worked for the New York City Convention and Visitors as vice president of membership, March of Dimes and New Jersey Network (public television). After retiring, Josie and Alan traveled for several years in their motor home before settling in Payson, Arizona.

In Lake Placid, Josie was active in the Lake Placid Community Theater and the Adirondack Community Church and was supportive of her children's many school activities. For many years she could be heard daily on WIRD radio giving ski reports as ''The Friendly Neighborhood Snow Fairy."

She loved to cook, was an avid reader and regularly completed the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle in ink.

For more than 30 years, Josie and Alan vacationed at the Couples Resort in Jamaica, where they started a charity golf tournament that raised funds to benefit the local hospital, two boys' schools and the no-kill animal shelter.

Once settled in Payson, Josie volunteered for 11 years with the Payson Police Department, making welfare calls to the seniors on weekends and holidays, as well as with the Payson Public Library and the Banner Payson Regional Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Alan Kline; her son Michael Wilson (Mary Louise McCullough) of Nashville, Tennessee; her daughter Dione Russell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her stepdaughter Rebecca Peterman (Gregg) of Rapid City, South Dakota; her stepson David Kline (Kristen) of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; stepson Benjamin Kline (Melissa) of Bloomingdale; a brother James Ondrako (Paula) of Batesville, Indiana; a sister Janyette Martin (Phil) of Agawam, Massachusetts; 11 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements for a celebration of life will be made available when finalized.
