Toronto triathlete tears up Mini-Tri

LAKE PLACID - Evert Lamb of Toronto barnstormed into the High Peaks Cyclery Mini-Triathlon on Monday and put down a spectacular time of 56 minutes, 49 seconds as the first finisher of the night.

Ryan Tober of Malone wasn't far behind with a 57:08 and Jason Amoriell of Peru placed third in 1:03:34. The course consisted of a 400-yard swim, followed by a 12-mile bike and a 3-mile run.

Fourth place overall went to Lake Placid's own Elizabeth Izzo, who crossed the line in 1:04:00. Mel Frazer (1:16:25) of Lake Placid was the second female to cross the line and Diedre Forcier took third in 1:17:54.

Monday was the sixth week of the Mini-Triathlon series which concludes Aug. 14, with races starting at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a Kids Mini-Triathlon next Monday, starting at 3 p.m. (registration opens at 2 p.m.).
