Listen to exclusive interviews on our new podcast
June 8, 2018

Every week, the Lake Placid News brings you exclusive stories about the people who make Lake Placid one of the greatest places to live and visit on this planet. Now we're letting you listen to clips of the interviews that make those stories possible.

We recently released our new podcast titled "We are Lake Placid" on iTunes. That's the title because, collectively, the people we interview make this the special place it is today.

Editor Andy Flynn is the host. You may recognize his voice; he has been a correspondent for North Country Public Radio for the past eight years, notably for the "Adirondack Attic" radio series from 2010 to 2017 and now as part of the North Country at Work team.

"I thought it would be a unique experience for readers to listen to our newsmakers talk about their lives, projects and organizations," Flynn said. "For us, it's a new way to connect with our readers and give them a sneak peek into how we bring them exclusive profiles every week."

The first podcast features an interview with 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team goalie Steve Janaszak. Flynn caught up with him at this year's Miracle on Ice Fantasy Camp at the Olympic Center.

The second podcast features an interview with Lake Placid Public Library Director Bambi Pedu. Flynn caught up with her May 20 at the first Lake Placid Community Day at the North Elba Show Grounds.

This week, we'll be launching two more installments: an interview with 2018 Distinguished Adult Volunteer of the Year Ruth Hart; and an interview with Ryan "Smiley" Grady, a 23-year-old Lake Placid resident who participated in the 2,100-mile Carry the Load walk-/bike-athon from West Point to Dallas.
