Thank you to the AARP for all their volunteer work these past few months helping many people file their tax returns.

They were able to assist approximately 400 people and e-filed over 380 returns. A big thank you to the AARP tax preparers: Betsy Senkowski, Carol Pinney, George Leedom, Travis McElyea and Wendy Poole. And also the very helpful greeters: Denise Calvert, Janet Smith, Pam Left, Pam Smith, Penny Dieffenbach, Barb Erickson, Don Woodlief, Katie Volz, Lyn Hunter and Susan O'Brien.

Dinosaur Day

On March 22, the library had around 100 children and parents in attendance taking part in the Dinosaur Day events. We had dinosaur masks, feet, tattoos, crafts, games, prizes, and, of course, books. Everyone had fun, playing, creating and learning about these prehistoric creatures. Thank you to everyone who attended.

NCCC

North Country Community College invites you to join them at the Lake Placid Public Library on Tuesday, April 23 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. for a free informational session. You can learn all about their new online programs. Many of them were designed for working adults. This is an excellent professional development opportunity. It is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

Knitting Club

The Knitting Club of Lake Placid meets at the library on Tuesday evenings from 6:45 to 9. All knitters are welcome. Bring a project that you are working on, or ask the members for help if you are facing a problem. If you are interested, stop in on Tuesdays or call Jennifer Newhart at 518-354-3246 or Heidi Roland at 518-524 6151.

Budget vote

The budget vote will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 14 at the library. Please come out and show your support for this public library.

Spring break

Not going away for break this year? Come in and see us at the library. Mrs. Armstrong will be in the children's room Monday through Thursday from 1:15 to 5 p.m. Miss Linda will be doing story time Fridays at 10:15 a.m. Or you can choose a book, find one of our relaxing areas with a view, and look out at the lake (you can even pretend it's the ocean, if you want).
